Amazon.co.uk Review
Supernatural, like so many successful shows before it, starts with a simple concept. When their father goes missing, two brothers--Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) Winchester--head off across the country to try and find him. But their journey isn?t easy, especially when you consider the assortment of spirits and nightmarish creatures that stand in their path.

On paper, that sounds a derivative mix of many shows that have gone before it. And to some extent, that?s what Supernatural is, yet its mix is nonetheless compelling. What lifts it above the norm is the quality both of the writing, and crucially, the direction of the show. There are moments that are spooky, and some that are downright scary, with plenty of suspense linking the two. And while the 22 episodes have their fair share of peaks and troughs, Supernatural has an edge about it that easily carries it through its slower points.

At the heart of the show, ironic considering the number of other programmes it tips its hat to, is a desire to do things its own way, and for that reason, come Supernatural?s maiden season finale, it leaves a real thirst for more episodes. Fortunately, the second season is already in the can, and we suspect it?ll continue to grow the number of fans that Supernatural is rightly earning for itself. --Jon Foster

5 out of 5 stars Scary Just Got Sexy...   December 23, 2008
"Supernatural" is an American Drama / Horror series that stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles as demon hunting brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester.
Season one starts with a prologue set in the early 80's, in which the boys have their mother taken from them in a gruesome murder by a mysterious dark figure with yellow eyes.
We then fast-forward to 2005, where we find the younger brother, Sam, attending Stanford University. Having been dragged around the country for most of his childhood by his strict father, on a quest to find the thing that killed his mother, Sam has now left his troubled family behind and settled into a normal life with girlfriend Jessica. That is, until older brother Dean shows up in the middle of the night, with disturbing news that threatens to turn Sam's world upside down once again.
Their father, who has been hunting evil (including ghosts, demons, vampires and werewolves) since the death of his wife twenty-odd years ago, has disappeared. And now, to find him, Sam must return to the life he thought he'd left behind and join his brother on a road trip that will change both of their lives forever...
I can't recommend this series highly enough -- it's one of the most criminally underrated and overlooked dramas on TV. It manages to effortlessly blend drama, horror, action and comedy to create one of the most compelling, scary (and not to mention, sexy) series on TV.
The lead actors, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, are brilliant in their roles as brothers who, underneath all of the squabbling and sarcastic one-liners, would readily die to protect one another, and their relationship provides the show with many poignant moments amid all of the thrills and chills.
The various monsters and ghouls featured in the series are brought to life using impressive CGI and special effects, and the show has a cool, striking visual style that would not look out of place on a cinema screen.
So, to sum up, I'd simply say that if you're looking for hot young stars, heart-stopping suspense, compulsive storylines and spectacular visuals, then you should definitely give "Supernatural" a go. You won't regret it.

4 out of 5 stars Sexy and Scary   October 20, 2008
Love this series. I dont like horror like Saw or Hostel but this I can cope with though I still have to occassional peek from behind my hands!

The brothers are sexy and the script funny and scary. its all a little predictable and was never gone win no bigwig awards but if you like your TV to entertain and look good this cold be for you!
Looking forward to series 2

5 out of 5 stars A brilliant and under rated series   August 21, 2008

This is a brilliant series. It has wonderful acting, writing, directing, special effects and music. It blends horror, comedy, emotion, family drama, action, mystery and suspense perfectly. I would recommend this as it is an excellent drama series which has been missed by a lot of people because of the lack of publicity compared with other shows. This is the best programme on TV!

2 out of 5 stars Dumb Fun   August 19, 2008

If you like your TV shows as dumb as they come this is the TV show for you. First off the two leads cant act to save there life yer sure there "pretty boys" and im sure thats the only reason they got the job on this lol cause these guys really cant act, but they shouldnt feel to bad because the rest of the cast cant act either. Also when you watch it it feels like it was done onthe cheap like they only had $2000 to spend on making the series and they blew half on paying for the jensen guys hair gel. On the plus side this series does have its good points one or two, if you can leave your brain at the door before you sit and watch this you will enjoy it just dont expect much from it
