Scheming Cilla Battersby is back - and this time she's got her eye on the main chance. The selfish mother-from-hell is on the verge of pulling off her most audacious scam to date but there's one small problem. Cilla needs her family to join her in South Africa. But after deserting them so many times before - she's going to have to go to extraordinary lengths to convince or cajole Chesney, Fiz and even Kirk to fly across the world and put aside their differences if they are going to hit the jackpot! Starring Wendi Peters, Sam Aston, Jennie McAlpine and Andrew Whyment

Bad but not terrible December 28, 2008 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this for my Dad for Christmas as he loves Corrie but I must say we were rather disappointed and I felt incredibly ripped off for what it was. Scheming Cilla has Chesney, Kirk and eventually Fizz out to South Africa to help her cheat and win a gameshow. There is the occasionally funny one liner at points in the film but nothing that has you rolling around laughing. The backdrop is beautiful; the scenery and the hotel it was filmed at are a nice touch but it doesn't make up for the poor script.
If you still really want to see this wait a couple of months before it's in the Amazon bargain box, if you pay over a fiver then you're being ripped off.
SAVE YOUR MONEY December 26, 2008 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
Please take my advice and save your money by not buying this DVD. It is a dreadful film and if you wait till they show it on terrestrial TV (which they are bound to do) you will see for yourself how pathetic this film is. There is no humour and the storyline is cringe worthy and in very bad taste. I love Coronations Street but cannot understand how they could produce such a disappointing film. I can only imagine that the actors aka Fizz, Kirk, Chesney and Cilla must have been offered one hell of a good deal to agree to participate in this awful spin-off. Take it from me and stick to the series.
Scheming Cilla at her best! December 4, 2008 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Cilla is back and scheming as ever. She sees an advertisment for Sunshine Family of the Year Competition hosted in Sun City, South Africa with a $500,000 prize, so makes plans to get her family out there. There are no levels to which she won't sink to portray her family as the best and no underhand tactics she won't stoop to in order to ruin the other families chances. Laughs aplenty with Fiz as a Nun, Chesney in a wheelchair and Kirk as her 'other son' with a mental age of 8 and of course, Cilla the most loving, caring mother in the world along with father 'Les' (though maybe not the Les you'd be expecting!)
Highlights for me were the safari trip when the Battersby's get lost in the dark on foot in the game reserve and Chesney getting his own back on his mother telling one of the organizers about her secret lifelong ambition.
You'll love it if you're a Cilla fan, in this spin-off she's at her most brash and scheming best!
Dont buy December 4, 2008 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
Oh dear I love Coronation Street and have loved all these one off-spin offs they have done, but this had me cringing while watching! and my friends and Mum said the same. So dissapointing, because I like usually Cilla and all the characters in it from Corrie. It wont stop me from watching Corrie though. I do love my soaps!
Brilliant don't miss this November 22, 2008 27 out of 31 found this review helpful
No Corrie fan should miss this. Cilla is back as big and bad as ever in this hillarious DVD. The scenery is breathtaking. I was sorry when the movie ended.
