Call Yourself an Internet Radio? September 20, 2008 6 out of 10 found this review helpful
This radio is so disappointing that I am driven to write this criticism. I give it the minimum 1 star: it only gets that because only meets the minimum definition of an Internet Radio. Otherwise it is just cheap and nasty. - The FreeCom decides which stations you may use and this is very limited and often restricts usage to the UK. The alternative for those more computer literate is to search the web for ways to get round this handicap, and what a waste of time that is. The fundamental point of having an Internet Radio is to listen to any station, any where. Duh, FreeCom! - The menu system is barely average and the main dial easily mis-select when it is pressed. - There is no on/off or standby switch. All you can do is unplug it. So when it is re-plugged, it has to re-boot and does not remember the last station played. - The speaker is a 1/4 of the apparent size implied in the photo, and sounds tinny and the whole radio vibrates because of the cheap construction. SO DON'T BUY THIS UGLY RADIO. ANY OTHER MUST BE BETTER.
Misleading advertising fooled me into buying this junk September 16, 2008 6 out of 11 found this review helpful
I bought one of these specifically because FREECOM state on their website that you can receive BBC radio - well as someone else already said in their review - you can't. It's only possible if you live in the UK in which case you don't need interent radio to listen to the BBC anyway - you can listen on FM, DAB, satelite or cable. For me this product is junk - it doesn't do what the manufacturer claims and the sound quality is about as good as a couple of tin cans joined by a piece of string. Don't waste your money , spend a bit more and buy either a LOGIK or ROBERTS internet radio which are far better in all respects.

A very good gadget.
However it has a major drawback:
Be aware that it does not support Real media format (the only format used for all BBC Local Radio stations).
works for me August 16, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought a MusicPal when my old satellite receiver died and I lost access to some of my favourite stations. Installation to a bit longer than the promised 15 seconds, but then I had forgotten my network password!
It now lives in my hifi rack connected via RCA phono line out, and the sound quality is very good (at least equal to satellite).
It does alphabetise album tracks but there's a way around this. Instead of directly accessing an album in the library, go through the 'folders' option, and the album tracks are played in the correct order.
Compatability issues July 28, 2008 8 out of 16 found this review helpful
Purchased this item and i have had to return it as it is not compatible with my Netgear DG834G router. Freecom support offered some very techie solutions including removing security and downloading updates for my router which would have meant hours of messing about with no guarantees of success!. Not impressed. Freecom's own support message board has a posting from someone with the same problem and no solution has been offered - says it all i think. The only reason it got one star was to get this review logged.
