3 out of 5 stars Game OK - its just a pity about the drums breaking   January 9, 2009
Well, as others have stated on here it was great at Christmas but a week later the red drum pad stopped working. We thought it might be just spent batteries, so took the batteries out and thought we'd stick new ones in later. So we forgot about it while we all went back to work and school. Tried them again this evening with fresh batteries and yep the drums are definately broken! Having now read the reviews here from people with the same red drum issue - it seems that some are getting them replaced OK and others are having a difficult time. I shall contact Amazon in the morning to see what to do about it, but I expect we're in for a long wait for a replacement.

The game itself is OK we haven't enjoyed it as much as the previous two GH games for one reason - the songs - most of them are dull - not all - but most!

4 out of 5 stars Great fun but shoddy instruments?   January 9, 2009
Guitar Hero: World Tour - Band Bundle (Xbox 360)

I purchased the band kit when it was first released and Amazon despatched on release date or near enough. I have mainly been using the red octane wireless guitar that came with the band kit, and on first opening it, and playing I was disappointed with it. The quality of workmanship seems a lot worse then the guitar in the previous GH game. The strum button was flimsy and annoying squeeks alot! The guitar and game does have some great new features, including the neck slider, a touch pad on the spine of the guitar next to the standard fret buttons.

From first using the guitar, during a song, the guitar randomly strums when I haven't touched anything, and I am unsure whether this is down to the shoddy strum button, or is a sensitivity issue with the new neck slider. This problem is very annoying, especially when you are looking good for a perfect score on your favourite rock song!!

I have registered this problem with Red Octane under the manufacturer warranty of 3 months. On doing so I was shown a message saying a replacement will be despatched promptly. The fact that they are willing to just send out a replacement without seeing the faulty makes me think that there may be a bigger problem. I am still waiting for said delivery of the replacement.

I have used the drum kit a bit, but not too much, and despite a lot of reviews I haven't noticed any sensitivity issues. I am aware that Activision have released tuning software that you can use with a PC to tune the drum kit and if any problems remain, then new drum parts are despatched.

The game itself, like the other Guitar Hero's is great fun, even with a faulty guitar, and the set list is quite long, with a variety of songs to suit most tastes. Overall great game with some good new features, however I question the quality of the instruments and sometimes wonder if I should have waited for Rock Band 2!

1 out of 5 stars Beware drum kit failure!!   January 9, 2009
Great game, but the red drum pad isn't working. I got the midi cable from Red Octane's support site under the warranty, but increasing the sensitivity makes no difference, and I have a dead red drum pad which makes the drum part of the game unplayable.
Beware that whilst Red Octane's warranty is 90 days, but Amazon's is a mere 30 days for faulty items - Red Octane told me to get a replacement for the faulty item from Amazon as they are the supplier. When I spoke to Amazon they told me they wouldn't normally deal with this over 30 days warranty but would make an exception, and because they are out of stock I have to return the entire bundle to get a refund. Alternatively they'll refund me 15 for the faulty drum kit and wash their hands of the situation!!!! The last option is for me to keep checking here for when the bundle is back in stock and then call them again to ask for a replacement. I'm seriously not impressed with Amazon on this - nor with the poor quality of the drum kit which has only been played 4 times!

3 out of 5 stars The red drum strikes again   January 8, 2009
Well, the kids loved the game - and the adults too. It would have been totally perfect if it weren't for the red drum not working.

After digging around on t'internet, it seems that this is a very common problem. So common, in fact, that Activision have a dedicated support line for it. Actually, so common that there aren't any replacements left anywhere.

The Activision RMA site says "Sorry. Contact the seller." Amazon, to their credit, will replace asap. The problem being that asap is three to six weeks. I also have to find something to package the whole lot up in - as the original packaging got destroyed in the Christmas day excitement.

So, all in all. Not hugely happy at the moment - especially for a 150 game.

5 out of 5 stars Drum Problem   January 2, 2009
I got Guitar Hero World Tour (xbox 360) for Christmas and had a great time on Christmas day strumming away, however on Boxing day the red drum completely stopped working. I attempted to fix the drum using the activision download but this did not work so I am currently waiting for amazon to collect the item and send me out another. There is now a delay on the dispatch though of 4-6 weeks so I'm going to be waiting a while.
The game it's self is great and by the sounds of things my drum problem is a one off but my advice would be to buy from a store where you can return the items immediately so you do not have to wait around should something similar happen again.
